How To Reduce Noise in a Building Using Sound Absorbing Materials?

At IES2000, we carry sound damping materials to create better acoustics in your work environment. Loud noises, like construction or vibrating metal, can be distracting to your work environment. If you are looking to buy sound and vibration damping materials to reduce noise in your business, visit our website today!

Our Industrial Soundamp E vibration damping sheet is a self-adhesive vibration damping pad used to block out sound and vibration on metal panels. Our VBC Damping Compound is a non-toxic, water-based compound that can be sprayed on surfaces to dampen sound and vibration.

Industrial Soundamp E

The Industrial Soundamp E vibration damping sheet is designed to lay flat on any surface, creating complete contact without air pockets or channels. Soundamp E is odorless, wear-resistant, and impregnated to prevent water absorption.
The vibration reduction material and adhesive can withstand temperatures between -22° F and 248° F and are highly resistant to wear and tear.

To apply:

  • Soundamp E pads should be cut to the desired size and shape before the backing paper is removed. It may be cut with scissors, a knife, or die-cutter.
  • Remove dust, grease, moisture, and other foreign matter from the application surface.
  • Peel off the backing paper.
  • The simplest application technique is to bend the vibration damping pad slightly and attach it along its shortest edge.
  • The vibration damping pad is then pressed firmly into place, preferably with a roller for larger pieces. This reduces the risk of leaving air pockets that reduce the sound damping capacity.
  • The temperature of the sound damping materials and application surface should not be below room temperature during fitting.
  • Soundamp E can be applied to buses and railroad cars, ships and boats, generator enclosures, off-highway equipment, relay cabinets, bins, chutes, hoppers, and machine guards.

    VBC Damping Compound

VBC Damping Compound aids in vibration damping and helps shift the dominant frequency. The resulting structure-borne noise reduction provides a means of improving the noise transmission loss in many applications. Because it’s water-based, VBC Damping Compound is especially recommended for new construction and for equipment that requires superior flame and smoke resistant materials.

VBC Damping Compound is also ideal for use on bus, rail, and marine applications and for treatment of any vibrating metal, wood, glass, ceramic, and most plastic surfaces. It can be used in fan and blower housings, ductwork, machine guards, and stadium seating. Our sound and vibration damping materials can be easily brushed or sprayed on surfaces, and they can be painted to make them suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

This highly efficient vibration reduction material improves the fatigue life and safety factor of treated surfaces. It is available in 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums.
